Owner and Veterinarian
Dr. Melissa Francis is a Midwestern native who always dreamed of becoming a veterinarian. She grew up in Paris, IL with dogs, cats, horses, and hamsters. She graduated with honors from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1999.Dr. Francis began her veterinary career in Phoenix, AZ at a clinic that specialized in dogs, cats, and exotic pets. Her years of veterinary practice in Phoenix gave her invaluable experience treating exotic pets. She practiced 2 years in Corpus Christi, TX then headed to southeastern Oklahoma for four years before she and her family were able to return to their Midwestern roots and settle in Monroe County. Bloomington has been her home since 2011. BloomingPaws has been privileged to call her our veterinarian for the past 10 years. She and her husband Chris are the proud parents of two daughters and a son.
Veternarian
Dr. Ginny Talik was born and raised in New Jersey. She graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with her BS in biology. She then went to Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and completed her clinical year of vet school at Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine. When given the opportunity, she took externships to South Africa and Guatemala where she worked extensively with wildlife. She also did elective rotations with wildlife and exotics to learn more about their care. She has been practicing veterinary medicine since 2020.
Dr. Talik’s focus as a vet is to provide top quality care to any animal in need with the compassion that they deserve. To that extent, she has her Fear Free Certification that she uses with every pet that she sees. In addition to caring about the mental well being of her patients, her other areas of interest are surgery and pain management. She is always working to stay up-to-date with the gold standards of care and learn any new skills that may better help her patients, including alternative therapies. She also plans to continue expanding her knowledge on exotics to provide care for them.
When Dr. Talik isn’t working, she’s at home with her wife and two children. They also have a packed house with three dogs, four cats, and a ball python.
Lead Technician
MJ Rohrer was born and raised in Plainfield, Indiana. After high school, she attended The Vet Tech Institute in Indianapolis. MJ has worked in a variety of clinics over her 13 year long career , including: feline only, emergency, eastern style, rehabilitation, and general practice. She is the “fur-mom” of 2 cats who have traveled across the country with her and her partner. She has lived in LA California and Portland Oregon. While living on the west coast, she picked up a love of travel. She is an avid outdoor person, having camped and hiked most of the west coast. MJ came back to Indiana to support her partner’s dream of owning and operating an escape room. She is excited to continue her career with BloomingPaws, and enrich the lives of pets and owners at the clinic.
Office Manager
Bailey has been a member of the BloomingPaws team for eight years. She began working at BloomingPaws right out of high school as an animal care technician in our Resort department. As she continued to advance in her knowledge of pet care and wellbeing, she advanced to the position of Weekend Resort Supervisor. While in this roll she had many opportunities to learn about veterinary medicine while assisting the on-call veterinarians with any medical care our boarding pets may have needed. With training in both the resort and clinic, she was able to continue to excel and eventually took on the position of Office Manager, where she is now helping to run the business and maintain our extremely high standard of care. Bailey enjoys spending time with her husband Thomas, their beloved dog Cinna, and the cat they found outside Nessie.
Certified Veterinary Assistant and Pet Nutritionist
Patricia has been a dedicated member of the BloomingPaws staff for 10 years. Born and raised in Brazil, she holds an MSc in Animal Science from UNIVASF, Brazil, and a Bachelor in Animal Science from UFMS, Brazil. Patricia first joined our team as a Group Play Guardian in our Resort. While she loved spending time in group play, she decided to turn her sites towards veterinary medicine. She did her internship for veterinary assisting in the Clinic, and it was easy to see that she would be a huge asset in the Clinic and was offered a position at the completion of her internship. Patricia enjoys spending time with her husband Jeff, their beautiful son, their ten dogs, and their two cats.
Operations Manager
Amanda is an integral part of the BloomingPaws team, born and raised in Danville Illinois, she moved to the Bloomington area in 2019, she quickly found her place as a member of the BloomingPaws customer service team. Her passion and dedication for the care of animals allowed her to quickly excel with us. In 2022 Amanda moved her skills from the customer service desk and became the BloomingPaws Resort Supervisor. Her care and compassion let her lead her team to provide the best care and comfort for pets of all shapes and sizes. At this time Amanda is currently the Operations Manager of BloomingPaws, helping to run the business and maintain our extremely high standard of care. Amanda enjoys spending her free time with her three beautiful children, their three dogs, and two cats.
